Legacy Backpack Mission to Cedar Rapids

Children of the flooded area of Cedar Rapids will soon be returning to school after a devastating summer. They did not have a summer filled with vacations and fun, but one of sadness as they watched their homes and families changed by the flood waters.

Legacy Music Ministries have teamed up with Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to help the children as they return to school in one small way by supplying them with school supplies in a backpack.

You can join in this aid by donating a filled backpack, school supplies, or a monetary donation. Your church, business or group can also join in this mission as we need volunteers for drop off points, packing backpacks and delivering them to the church in Cedar Rapids. On Saturday August 16 at 7:00 p.m. there will be a Cedar Rapids Flood Relief Concert by Legacy. Legacy is a Christian rock band from Fulton, IL with a heart for serving God. The concert will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church at 1285 3rd Avenue Se, Cedar Rapids, IA.

The public is invited but special invitations go out to the church congregations which have experienced great losses from the flooding. The backpacks will be given at that time to the coordinator for the Cedar Rapids Schools in charge of homeless students, who will distribute the bags to the children in need.

# 2 pencils, Erasers, Pencil box - small 6 X 9, Colored pencils, Washable markers- thick and thin, Crayons- 24 count, Pens and red pens, Highlighter, Black sharpie markers, Friskar scissors, Elmers glue - 4 oz, Glue sticks, Scotch tape, Ruler, Water colors - 8 count, Folders- with and without prongs in solid colors, Spiral notebooks -wide line, Loose-leaf paper wide, 3 ring notebooks, Hand sanitizer, Tissues – 220 -250 count and Ziplock bags - quart
