12/31/1922 - 7/2/2008 Mr. Arden Noble, age 85, of 203 S. 2nd Street; Walnut, Illinois died Wednesday evening (July 2, 2008) at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Noble was born on Dec. 31, 1922 in Fleming, New York the son of Perry and Velma Landers Noble. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann White on June 6, 1954 at The First Christian Church of Walnut. He attended schools in New York and Illinois. He enlisted in The U.S. Army in 1943, serving two years in the South Pacific –Philippines. He then went into the construction business with his father and 2 brothers and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Walnut Fire Department for 28 years, was a member of The Bureau County Board serving that position for 14 years, was a member of Walnut American Legion Post #179 for many years and also the VFW in Wyanet, Illinois. He served on the board and was deacon for many years at The First Christian Church of Walnut of which he was a member. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Walnut, one daughter Peggy Ann Doering of Davenport, Iowa, two sons Douglas Arden (Robin) Noble of Alpharetta, Georgia and Bradley Alan (Jackie) Noble of Morrison, Il., 8 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother Robert (Mary Olson) Noble of Walnut, Il., numerous nieces and nephews, and one cousin Mrs. Pat (Carl) Hultine of Princeton, Il. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Perry Jr., and 2 sisters Jean Zentz and Joan Mattes. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in The Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with Rev. Brian Moore, pastor of The First Christian Church of Walnut officiating. Burial will be in The Walnut Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-8 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.
