GORDON M. RITCHIE

December 31, 1920-June 20, 2008

Gordon passed away in Port Angeles due to natural causes at Golden Years Residential Care Center. Nancy, his loving and devoted wife for 64 years, was at his side.

Gordon, son of Lyle and Beatrice Ritchie, and Nancy were both born and raised in Morrison, Illinois. They spent their entire lives there until 2005, when they moved to Port Angeles to be closer to their son, Bob, daughter-in-law, Susan, and grandchildren, Morgan and Lisa Ritchie.

Gordon served his country during World War II as a pilot in the Navy flying submarine patrol missions. He went on to complete 20 years in the Navy Reserve and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

He worked in the retail lumber business most of his life, eventually as owner of Badger-Ritchie Lumber Company. Gordon was actively involved in the growth and development of the Morrison area, serving on the school board, the board of the Whiteside County Airport and the Lions Club.

His first love was flying, any size aircraft. Gordon used to thrill his kids when his Navy Reserve missions would give him a chance to fly low over Morrison and tip the wings of his P2V as he buzzed the neighborhood.

He was devoted to his family and loved them dearly. His warmth and sly humor endeared him to everyone.

Gordon is survived by his beautiful wife, Nancy, daughter, Pat Rascoe, and husband, Rusty; son, Bob, and wife, Susan; son, Tom, and wife, Melinda; son, Jim; grandchildren, Morgan and Lisa; and sister, Ruth, and her grandchild, Cindy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Guy, and dear son, Johnny.

Gordon's family and friends will miss him deeply. A private family reunion will take place in Port Angeles to celebrate his life.
