Morrison - Rockwood Family Fun Ride

The Morrison Friends of the Parks would like to announce their 2nd Annual Morrison - Rockwood Family Fun Ride. This fun event is scheduled for Sunday, July 13th, and we invite all families with bicycles to join us for what we think will be a great afternoon of bicycling. The ride is open to all adults and families with the only requirement being that all children must be accompanied by a parent(s).

The purpose of the ride is to share a beautiful afternoon biking with friends and new acquaintances, promote safe cycling and promote our proposed bike path between Morrison and Rockwood State Park. The Morrison Friends of the Parks strongly recommends the use of certified bicycle helmets whenever riding a bike, so if you have a helmet please plan to wear it for our ride.

All riders must register for the ride by signing individual waiver forms which will also be used in the drawings for prizes. The Morrison Friends of the Parks will give away two bicycles and several bicycle helmets to some lucky riders chosen by a drawing during the course of the afternoon.

We will register all cyclists beginning at 1:00PM Sunday at the Morrison Odell Library parking lot and hopefully begin our ride from the library at 1:30PM. Registration forms are available now at the Morrison City building. The plan is to ride to Rockwood State Park as a group, spend about one hour at the Park and then return to town as a group, although the return trip with the group is optional. While at the park we will rest up, visit with our fellow riders, and enjoy some light refreshments. We expect to be back in Morrison between 3:30 and 4:00. As an added highlight this year, the Morrison Family Activity and Infrastructure Mapping committee is providing a free - to all registered cyclists - Ice Cream Social at the end of the ride at the Odell Library in the Community Room. In the event of rain on July 13th, our rain date will be August 3rd.
