SHELEY CAPTURED IN GRANITE CITY |

Illinois State Police Report The Investigative Task Force which has been investigating several homicides which occurred over the past several days in Whiteside County announces the arrest of Nicholas T. Sheley in Granite City, Illinois at 6:40 pm. Sheley, a suspect in these homicides, was arrested, without incident, in a cooperative effort by Illinois State Police Zone 6, the FBI, and the St. Louis Major Crimes Task Force. The public is reminded that persons arrested for criminal offenses are innocent until proven guilty. Associated Press Report By DANIEL YOVICH - Associated Press Writer GRANITE CITY, Ill. (AP) -- FBI spokeswoman Kelly Brennan says 28-year-old Nicholas T. Sheley (was captured Tuesday in Granite City, about 10 miles north of St. Louis. She didn't immediately have more information about the arrest. A spokeswoman with the Granite City police department says Sheley is in custody there. She declined to elaborate. The FBI launched a manhunt for Sheley, who they believe is tied to the killings of eight people in Illinois and Missouri. Among those killed were a 93-year-old man, a child, and a couple whose blood-soaked dogs were found roaming a motel parking lot. by Editor, theCity1.com |
