Whiteside County Fair August 12-16 |

The Whiteside County Fair is getting ready for another fun filled five days of great entertainment. The Fair kicks of on Tuesday morning August 12th and runs through the Saturday night August 16th grand finale. This is the 138th year the annual fair is being held at the fairgrounds in Morrison, IL, and it will start and end with a bang. As always, the fair board provides something for everyone, young and old alike. The evening grandstand entertainment begins Tuesday, August 12th at 7:00 with the action packed demolition derby. The entertainment continues with Next-Level Pro-Bull riding on Wednesday, August 13th at 7:00. Traditional grandstand favorites return to finish out the week. Draft horse hitches and speed events return on Thursday, August 14th at 7:00, and don’t miss the five classes of souped-up tractors and trucks that will take over the grandstand on Friday, August 15th at 7:00. The fairs five days of entertainment will end with the crowd pleasing demolition derby Saturday night August 16th at 7:00. Daily free events include the Grandpa Crachet shows and two children’s bicycle giveaways daily. New this year, The Mississippi Valley Gymnastics Academy Show Team and Mississippi Valley Athletic Training Center Cheerleading Team will perform on Tuesday, August 12th at 5:30 in the picnic area of the fair grounds by the east entrance. The Children’s Pedal Pulls return again on Tuesday and Saturday at Noon with six divisions for youngsters ages 4 through 12. Various Textile Demonstrations will be going on again this year through out the week. Check back for times later in the paper or on the Whiteside County Fair website. For those of you feeling lucky, the Harness racing returns with track records up for grabs. Twilight Harness Racing is back for the second year on Thursday, August 14th at 5:00. Friday and Saturday’s Harness racing will start each day at 1:00. Or for those of you with a sweet tooth, chances will be sold at a nominal cost to test entrants luck at winning a tasty treat in the “cake/pie walks” held Tuesday through Friday at 4:00 at the culinary department in the large exhibition hall north of the secretary’s office. Wilson Family Rides will entertain the kids and adults again this year with their outstanding carnival and midway attractions providing a festive and fun time for everyone.
