Tri-City Trail Riders Add Tie-Line Poles at Rockwood Park |
|
The Tri-City Trail Riders are continuing to make improvements at the Morrison Rockwood State Park Equestrian area. Members of this group are from Morrison, Erie, Fenton, Lyndon, Coal Valley, Tampico and Prophetstown. Last year this group built two hitching posts at Rockwood, did some work at Loud Thunder and donated money to Franklin Creek. Some of the funds earned from the recent poker ride held at the park on Memorial Day weekend have been used to purchase 10 tie line poles. The club is having these poles set in the ground and they are to be ready for use when the park reopens. Park Rangers drilled the holes and Quality Ready Mix from Morrison has donated the cement for the poles. These tie line poles will be available for the campers to use to tie ropes from one pole to the next. Then they tie lead ropes to the main rope to attach their horses. Using these poles will protect the trees that have been used in the past. More improvements are being planned for the future. If anyone is interested in more information regarding the improvements that the saddle club is planning or would like to help in any way with the park improvements, please contact Mike Vahle at 815-537-2059. by Editor, theCity1.com |
