January 28, 1926 - May 29, 2008 BETTY DECKER, 82, 1100 6th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, IA. Betty was born January 28, 1926, in Clinton, IA, to Antonio and Delia (Watkins) Speakman. She was educated in the Clinton grade schools and graduated from Clinton High school in 1944. She attended Omaha State University in Omaha, NE. Betty married Marvin E. Decker on December 21, 1946 in Clinton. She had been employed by Swift’s and Clinton Garment Company, both of Clinton. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Futon, IL, where she was involved in Ladies Aid and the Hannah Mission Circle. She taught Sunday school, was a Girls League Sponsor and was the founder of the church’s newsletter. Betty loved to sew, knit, read and bake. A memorial to Trinity Reformed Church has been established. Survivors include her husband, Marvin; one son, Chris (Jolene) Decker of Camanche, IA; two grandchildren, Heather and Jason Decker; one great granddaughter, Demi Zigler; one brother, Joseph Speakman of Nevada. She was preceded in death by one sister, Cecelia Mathes; two brothers, Larry and Paul Speakman.
