March 09, 1926 - May 05, 2008 NORMAN HARTMAN, 82, of 503 – 14th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. Norman was born March 9, 1926, in Carroll County, IL, to Henry and Anna (Traum) Hartman. He attended the Thomson, IL schools. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Gilda M. Dykema on August 7, 1947, in Morrison, IL. Norman farmed for 40 years in Carroll and Whiteside Counties. He was also employed by Drives, Inc. in Fulton, IL for 28 ½ years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau and a member of the Fulton American Legion Post #402. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Gilda; one daughter, Gretchen (Mrs. Michael) Smith of Milwaukee, WI; one son, Gordon (Lois) Hartman of Atalissa, IA; five grandchildren, Shawn (Jinger) Smith; Hannah (Mrs. Travis) Miller, Whitney (Amy) Hartman, Justin Hartman, Kinsey Hartman; five great grandchildren, Ashley, Leah and Nickia Smith; Preston and Olivia Miller; five sisters, Mrs. Lucille VenHuizen of Clinton, IA, Mrs. Helen Kramer of Sterling, IL, Betty (Mrs. Albert) Notz of Mt. Carroll, IL, Luella (Mrs. John) Garrison of Sterling, IL and Mrs. Darlene Vos of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Hartman; eleven brothers, Willard, Leonard, Floyd, Arnold, Raymond, Lowell, Warren, Henry Jr., Virgil, Ivan and Norris Hartman.
