Master Gardeners Are Here Again

What is causing my plants to die? Will these insects destroy my vegetable garden? What perennials are best suited for my yard? What tree will give me the best shade? If these questions bothered you last year or might pertain to you this year, you can once again receive answers by calling the University of Illinois Master Gardeners.

Each Master Gardener goes through 60 hours of in-depth training taught by University of Illinois Extension Specialists and Educators. The various classes that Master Gardeners must conquer includes: basic botany, vegetables, tree fruits, small fruits, insects, diseases, soils, fertilizers and ornamental such as trees and flowers.

University of Illinois Extension is in the business of providing education so you can put the knowledge to work. We bring to you the resources and research from University of Illinois in many different forms which one being the Master Gardener program.

The Whiteside County Extension Office has 32 Master Gardeners trained and ready to answer your horticultural questions and concerns. Their office hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 A.M. to Noon, until September 15.
