Health Department Diabetes Awareness Series Continues

Whiteside County Community Health Clinic’ s 2008 Diabetes Awareness Day Series continues with a special program at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15.

Dr. Bill Yemm, DDS, Whiteside County Community Health Clinic, will talk about the importance of managing diabetes in relation to oral health. Tooth and gum diseases are more common and usually more serious in people with diabetes. The program will take place in CGH Medical Center’s Classroom 2, 100 E. LeFevre Rd., Sterling.

The program is free and the information provided is for women. Guests are welcome.

A light supper break will follow the presentation, along with opportunities to visit various Awareness Booths and participate in a Table Talk Support Group. Other local health education opportunities for self-management will be shared as well.

The series is supported with a grant through the Illinois Department of Public Health, Office of Women’s Health.
