The next art exhibit in Ashford University’s Cortona Gallery will feature the artwork of seniors who will be graduating from the University’s Computer Graphic Design and Visual Arts programs. Students whose art will be on display include Patrick Lambert, Daniel Park, Mitchell Haack, Alex Riggen, Stephanie Fox and Michael Ernzen. The exhibit will run from April 7-25 with an artists’ reception on Thursday, April 10 from 4-6 p.m. Ernzen, a Visual Arts major, will exhibit paintings, prints, and sculpture, while the other students, all Computer Graphic Design majors, will display digital work including photos and work done with programs such as Photoshop and In-Design. Artwork by area elementary school children will be on display in the Gallery on April 30. The works were produced by the children at Ashford through a fine arts grant. The Cortona Gallery, located on the second floor of the University’s Clare Hall, 400 N. Bluff Blvd., is named for Sister Cortona Phelan, OSF, former president of Mount St. Clare College and former president of the Sisters of St. Francis. She influenced the quality of education at the College through her teaching of American history and her love of the arts for many years. She also served as MSC Academy Principal and as Dean of Students at the College. The free art gallery is open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekdays and for private showings by appointment.
