Marshall C. Brooks


Marshall C. Brooks, 83, of Morrison, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison. He was employed by Wheel Inn Ranch Mobile Home Park, Scottsdale, Ariz., as manager, before retiring in 1991. Prior to his retirement, he managed several mobile home parks, was a foreman at Rock River Lumber and Grain, a carpenter and carpet layer.

Marshall was born July 8, 1924, in Prophetstown, the son of Russell C. and Blanche (Beebe) Brooks. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Marshall married Donna Barkdoll on July 17, 1948, in Peoria. He was a member of Hooppole American Legion and Royal Neighbors of America. Marshall was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors, especially camping.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of Morrison; daughter, Marsha (Steve) Geerts, of Morrison; brother, Gary (Linda) Brooks, of Walnut; two grandchildren, Tim (Bobbi) Geerts, of Sabula, Iowa, and Monica (Andrew) Swanstrom, of Morrison; and two great-grandchildren, Leah Geerts and Taylor Swanstrom.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Duane.

An informal gathering of family and friends is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison. Burial of cremains is at a later date at Leon Cemetery. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
