SEBERT J. DYKSTRA, 90, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL, died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the nursing home.

Sebert was born September 16, 1917, in Thomson, IL, to Joseph and Kate (Buikema) Dykstra. He was educated in the Thomson grade schools and attended Thomson High School. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during WWII. He married Wilma G. Buikema on September 18, 1940 in Fulton. She died March 28, 2007. Sebert was employed by Allied Steel in Clinton, IA. He was the owned and operated Fulton Body Shop until 1956. He then owned and operated Sebert’s DX – Sunoco Service Station in Fulton until retiring in 1980. He also served as the custodian for Unity Christian Grade School in Fulton. He was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, where he taught Sunday school, served as a deacon and elder, and helped to start the Cadet Club. He belonged to American Legion Post # 402 in Fulton. He was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth A. (Mrs. Roger) Eshelman of Morrison, IL and Sandie Kay (Mrs. Russell) Bielema of Fulton; one son, Donald S. (Sheila) Dykstra of Fulton, IL; nine grandchildren, Andrea (Mrs. Scott) Eggers, Liz (Mrs. Eric) Berns, Samantha Dykstra, Ben Eshelman, Sarah Hawk, Philip (Julie) Bielema, Jason (Christine) Bielema, David Bielema, Amber Bielema; five great grandchildren, Siara and Angelyca Hawk, Lara Bielema, Breanna and Emily Eggers; one sister, Kathryn (Mrs. Clarence) Huizenga of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; one sister, Gertrude Nelson; two brothers, John E. and Allen Dykstra.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM Monday, March 03, 2008 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church – Fulton, IL

OFFICIATING: Rev. Len Meinema , Pastor of Bethel Christian Reformed Church- Fulton, IL

VISITATION: 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, March 02, 2008 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Fulton Township Cemetery – Fulton, IL
