December 06, 1915 - February 14, 2008 CHARLES H. “CHICK” KETTLER, 92, of 711 – 9th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, IA. Chick was born December 6, 1915, in Ustick Township, Whiteside County, IL, to Claus and Grace (Voss) Kettler. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1935. He married Marian Vogel on October 21, 1937, in Fulton. She died June 5, 1989. He was employed by the CB & Q Railroad, and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years. His last 10 years he served as assistant postmaster, retiring in 1978. Chick was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton, were he served as a deacon and church treasurer. He was a charter member and long-time secretary/treasurer of the Fulton Sportsman Club. He was also a charter member of the Fulton Country Club. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Charles, Jr.) Miller of Fulton, IL and Mary Beth “Becky” (Mrs. Kent) Sneller of Sioux Center, IA; one son, James (Paula) Kettler of Omaha, NE; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Clarence Kettler of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; two sisters, Louise Faber and Janet Wiebenga; one brother, Alfred Kettler.
