September 18, 1920 - February 09, 2008 E. LEROY RUS, 87, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the nursing home. LeRoy was born September 18, 1920 in Fulton, IL to Ren and Nellie (Klimstra) Rus. He was educated in the Mt. Hope Grade School of rural Whiteside County. He married Anna A. Dykstra on May 9, 1941 in Thomson, IL. She died March 28, 2007. LeRoy was engaged in farming in the rural Garden Plain area until moving to Fulton in 1948. He then co-owned and operated Rus and Wilkens Feed Company. Later, he founded and operated the former Service Oil Company of Fulton. Most recently, he founded and operated, with his brother, Clarence, the Rus Brothers LP Gas – Fulton, IL, until retiring in 2006. LeRoy was fully dedicated to the operation to Rus Brothers LP Gas and service to its customers . He was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton and a former member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served as a deacon. Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Dave) Meinema and Barbara (Jody) Bielema both of Fulton; two sons, Donald (Marcia) Rus and Darrell (Sue) Rus both of Fulton; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Rus of Albany, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; one son, Arnold J. Rus; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Rus; one step grandson, Terry Eye; one sister, Catherine Tegeler; and one brother, Ray W. Rus.
