Arleta M. Dornbush

ARLETA M. DORNBUSH, 97, of Wyndcrest Nursing Home, Clinton, IA, died Friday, February 8, 2008 at the nursing home.

Arleta was born October 8, 1910 in Albany, IL, to William E. and Anna E. (Smith) Wood. She attended Albany Grade and High Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She attended Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL and Mount St. Clair College in Clinton, IA. Arleta married Kenneth C. Dornbush on September 24, 1938 in Chicago, IL. He died October 15, 1960. She taught in the rural Whiteside County School system and later in the Albany Grade School. She and her husband owned and operated the Dornbush Hardware Store in Albany. She later was employed by the United States Post Office in Albany as Postmistress, retiring in 1976. Arleta was a member of Albany United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Easter Star, Albany Chapter. She had served as treasurer for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. She was known for singing with her sister at funeral services. Arleta was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan and her family was very important to her.

Survivors include three daughters, Sally (Arnold) Wiebenga of Fulton, IL; Mary (James) Damhoff and Cindy (Randy) Van Zuiden both of Albany, IL; one son, William (Nancy) Dornbush of Rockford, IL; eleven grandchildren, Dawn (Dean) Petrie, Susan (Joel) Quiram, Terry Wiebenga, Tanya Herringer, Tara Damhoff, Torrie (Chad) Zambon, Mitch (Nicole) Van Zuiden, Karla Van Zuiden, Matthew (Beth) Dornbush, Scott (Lindsey) Dornbush, and Christopher Dornbush; seven great grandchildren; nephews, Richard (Sharon) Wood and Vernon (Diane) Dornbush.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Virginia Dornbush in infancy; one sister, Sarah Dolan, and one brother, Robert Wood.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING: Rev. David W. Davies, Jr. - Pastor: Albany United Methodist Church - Albany, IL

VISITATION: 12:30 PM Monday, February 11, 2008 until the time of the funeral service at the Fulton Chapel - Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Lusk Memorial Cemetery - Albany, IL
