American Cancer Society Annual Daffodil Day Celebration

The Annual Daffodil Day Celebration, the distribution of Daffodils purchased through the American Cancer Society, is heading into Whiteside County in March. The Daffodil has become the flower of hope for all cancer patients and their families and therefore, the official flower of the American Cancer Society.

Bunches of ten fresh cut Daffodils, a Kiwi Green vase, a Gift of Hope, which is a vase with a bouquet of Daffodils delivered for you anonymously to a medical facility in Whiteside County to a cancer patient undergoing treatment, are all available for ordering now. Additional items include a bunch of 10 cut flowers with a plush 10’ Boyd’s Bear specifically designed for this campaign named Bea R. Hope, a pot of three bulbs ready to bloom and to be transplanted later, or a case of 18 pots of bulbs. Order forms have been sent to businesses and individuals who have ordered Daffodils in the past. Contact any American Cancer Society volunteer. A half case of 25 bunches and a full case of 50 bunches of the cut flowers may also be ordered. All preorders with payment must be sent to American Cancer Society, ATTN: Whiteside County Unit, 4312 East State Street, Rockford, IL 61108 by February 20.

Delivery of the Daffodils will arrive on Wednesday, March 19th. The Daffodils will arrive in the hard bud stage. Within hours of their arrival when placed into a vase, the buds will burst into bright yellow blooms. Orders may be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at one of two locations: US Bank in Rock Falls at 300 First Avenue or at Community State Bank in Morrison at 220 East Main Street; or from 2-4 p.m. at Central Bank at 1404 14th Avenue in Fulton. Additional bunches will also be available for purchase while quantities last. All orders of $200 or more will be delivered to the address indicated on the order form. Each bouquet of Daffodils will provide money for cancer research, education, prevention programs, and local patient services.
