PHERNE HUISINGH, 88, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA.

Pherne was born August 7, 1919 in Fulton, IL, to Herman and Ellen (Bos) Rus. She was a 1938 graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison, IL and a 1940 graduate of Mount St. Clare College in Clinton, IA. Pherne married Harvey J. Huisingh on August 21, 1942 in Morrison. He died January 7, 2003. She was employed as a teacher in the rural Whiteside County Schools and at Unity Christian School in Fulton. She was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church where she was a member of the church’s Ladies Aid Society and a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Whiteside County Retired Teachers Association and Whiteside County Parent Teachers Association.

Survivors include three sons, Kent (Jane) Huisingh, Dean (Rosemary) Huisingh, and Les (Pam) Huisingh all of Fulton; five grandchildren, Brendon (Lonna) Husingh, Aaron (Michelle) Huisingh, Beth (Shannon) Hoover, Megan (Marc) Husingh-Scheetz, and Carrie Huisingh; two step grandchildren, Barbara (Nathan) Wertz and Aaron (Christy) Hackett; five great grandchildren, Tristan and Bryan Huisingh; Alekza, Eli, and Sydney Hoover; eight step great grandchildren, Cory Ireland, Caleb and Samantha Morse, Caitlin and Cameron Coe, Miranda Wertz, Annaka and Wesley Hackett; and one sister, Jeane (George) Whiting of Hayfield, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; one son, Lee Huisingh; one step grandson, Chad Hackett; two brothers, Jacob and Raymond Rus; three sisters, Betty Addy, Margaret Vanderlaan, and Clara Meinsma.

OFFICIATING: Rev. Wendell Davelaar – Pastor: First Christian Reformed Church – Fulton, IL

VISITATION: 4:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday – January 27, 2008 at the Fulton Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery – Morrison, IL
