|
Light flurries and 26 degree temperatures greeted the more than 600 runners and walkers that braved the cold for the 27th annual Clinton Community College B-rrry Scurry 4 mile road race. The 2008 race included a new race course through Clinton’s residential areas. Winner of the male division was David Brobst of Freeport, Illinois in a time of 23:32. Bryan Glass of Normal, Illinois holds the previous record of 20:15 set in 2005. Female winner was Nancy Foxen of Muscatine, Iowa in a time of 25:01. Kelley Timmerman of Geneseo, Illinois holds the B-rrry Scurry record of 24:25 set in 2000. In addition to the age-group awards, B-rrry Scurry also hosts a B-rrry Challenge to all businesses and organizations. The winners are determined by the number of people the respective organization has entered in the race. Winner of the Large Group (over 150 employees) award was Swiss Colony. In the Small Group Challenge (less than 150 members), two teams tied for the title. Those teams were Finally Fils and the Rock River Road Runners. Volunteers of the Year honors were awarded to Joe Hickey for his years of service as the driver of the lead race vehicle and Culligan Water for their donations of water for the runners. by Dawn Zuidema, theCity1.com |
