Free Prostate Cancer Screening Available |
|
Prostate Cancer is treatable when caught in its early stages, but by the time its symptoms appear, the cancer may already be more advanced. That’s why annual screenings are important, said Joan Saunders, infectious disease, of Whiteside County Health Department. “You should start at 40 if you have a family history of prostate cancer, or otherwise at 50,” Saunders said. Whiteside County Health Department is offering free prostate cancer screenings beginning this month for men 40 years and over who have no health insurance or high insurance deductibles. The Prostate cancer screenings include free PSA blood tests and prostate education. Funding for the free screenings is provided by CGH Health Foundation. Call (815) 626-2230, ext. 332 to make an appointment or for further information. Appointments are already filling up for the first testing date, Jan. 30, with screenings available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For the other two screenings, on March 18 and May 20, appointments will be taken through 5:15 p.m. All screenings are by appointment only, and will take place at Whiteside County Health Department, 1300 W. Second St., Rock Falls. by Editor, theCity1.com |
