Mustangs to Host First Round Playoff Game

The Morrison Mustangs have lived to play at home again. With the announcement of the pairings tonight, the Mustangs grabbed the number four seed opposite Warren-River Ridge in the opening round of the Class 2A state playoffs. Warren-River Ridge grabbed the fifth seed in the quadrant with a 6-3 record. The rest of the quadrant stacks up as follows: #1-seed Dakota(9-0) will host #8 Peru St. Bede(5-4), #2-seeded Newman (8-1) will play host to the #7 Forreston Cardinals (5-4) in a rematch of last year's first round game, and #3 Lena-Winslow (7-2) will meet #6 Melrose Park(Walter Lutheran)(6-3). Besides Morrison, Newman, and St. Bede, Bureau Valley (9-0) drew the number seed in their quadrant in the 3A bracket and will host Paxton-Buckley-Loda(5-4) in their first game, and the Amboy Clippers (6-3)snagged a #6 seed opposite number three-seeded Wilmington(8-1).
