F-S Fillies vs. TMS |
On May 4, 2005 The Morrison F-S Fillies Split a double header with Thomson- Mt Carroll- Savanna (TMS). The first game was a very tight game with scoring by the Fillies in the first and last inning. The first inning Megan Nelson walked and stole second. Heather Andersen sacrificed Nelson to third and Nelson stole home.
The score stood firm until the bottom of the third when the Fillies allowed three runs and then another in the bottom of the fourth. The Fillies did try to start a rally in the top of the fifth when Andrea Vegter was walked, Becca Head reached on an infield hit, Alene Vandermyde walked and Kyla Renkes sacrificed in Vegter. TMS stopped the rally at that point and the score of the first game was 2-4. In the nightcap, the Fillies fared much better. The Fillies immediately jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Renkes bunted on and stole around to home. It was not until the third inning that the Fillies would score again. Renkes was walked, Nelson doubled in Renkes, and Jordan Mann singled in Nelson. Vegter was walked, Vandermyde walked, and Callie Bush reached on a fielders choice scoring Abby Wiesel who was courtesy running for Mann. The Fillies allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the third bringing the score to 4-2. The Fillies put on their hitting shoes in the top of the fourth. Jessica Pell got an infield single, Renkes walked, and Andersen tripled in Pell and Andersen. Vegter singled in Andersen and Vandermyde tripled in Vegter. The Filly defense held and the score was 8-2. The Fillies scored two more in the top of the fifth when Renkes singled, Andersen walked and Mann doubled in Renkes and Andersen. They allowed one run in the bottom of the fifth and the final score was 10-3. Jordan Mann pitched both games. The Filly defense continues to improve. They were able to get out of many runners on one out situations. They will meet Fulton in The next game. By: Paul Vandermyde by dzuidema |
