F/S Fillies sink the Clippers |
Ashley Patten turned in a fantastic performance as the F/S Fillies sank the Clippers 7-0 in Amboy Monday April 18. The Fillies batted first and wasted no time scoring a run. Kyla Renkes reached first, stole second and scored on a past ball. Patten pitched nine strikes in the bottom of the first retiring the side.
The Fillies came back to bat in the top of the second. Callie Bush reached second on an overthrow. Was advanced to third on a sacrifice by Kate Durham, and scored on an RBI by Beka Head. The Clippers were again sat down in order. Leaving the score 2-0. The third inning brought more of the same. Patten helped her cause by doubling to center field, then stealing third and scored on a single by Heather Andersen. The Fillies had their biggest inning in the fourth. Andrea Vegter was walked, Head advanced Vegter and reached first. Megan Nelson was walked, Vegter stole home and Patten helped herself more with a two RBI Double. Leaving the score 6-0. The Fillies scored one more in the sixth when Nelson was walked, stole second, and was doubled in by Jordan Mann. This was the final score 7-0. The Fillies showed a lot of spark in this game. The scoring was really spread around and many Fillies helped in the winning effort. Patten pitched a great game, facing only 23 batters in the seven inning affair, she notched 19 strikeouts, gave up only one walk, and no hits. No Clipper made it past first base the entire game. The Fillies are 11-1. Pictured: Kyla Renkes readies to hit the ball. Submitted By Paul Vandermyde by dzuidema |
