Mustangs finish in 7th at Fulton Relays |
By: Lindsey Smith Along with nine other teams, the Morrison Mustangs hit the Fulton track on Wednesday the 13th. The meet that they were all gathering for was the Fulton Relays. The weather was decent: sunny, but windy, and around sixty degrees. Morrison had only one Mustang place in the field events. Dustin Vandermyde tied in the high jump for fifth place with Gabler of Newman. Winning the 4 x 100 was Morrison. Nick Vandermyde was again seen at the lead off leg, followed by Zach Ashpole. Zach passed the baton to Nate McBride for the third leg. Nate reached Sammy Biggs who ran the anchor. They ran the race in 45.02 seconds. Riverdale was right behind them, clocked at 45.72. The fresh-soph team helped out n the point tallies by winning their 4 x 400 relay race. Zach Schumacher led things off before passing to Josh Bartels. Josh then reached for Nick. Nick handed the baton to Nate for the anchor Nate crossed the finish line in 3:42.8, over five seconds ahead of second placed Amboy. The Mustangs next placing came in the 800 sprint medley. Morrison finished this race in 1:42.54, just 0.02 seconds ahead of LeWin. Morrison ended in fourth place in the event. Another fourth place came from the fresh-soph ‘Stangs. In the 4 x 400, Morrison sprinted to a time of 48.53, 0.22 seconds away from the bronze. In the final event of the night, the 4 x 400, Morrison settled for a silver. The Mustangs’ clock stopped at 3:35.90. They cleared Riverdale in third by about five seconds. The Mustangs finished in 7th as a team with 36.5 points. Hosting Fulton followed behind by a point and a half. Winning the meet was Riverdale with 95 points. by larryg |
