Fresh-Soph Fillies beat Rams |
On April 7 2005 the Morrison Fresh/Soph Fillies hosted Riverdale at the High School Ball Diamond. Jordan Mann was tapped for the pitching with Megan Nelson catching. Riverdale scored one in the top of the first to jump to an early lead. The Fillies immediately answered back in the bottom of the first. Kyla Renkes was hit by a pitch and stole around to home to tie the game. In the second the Filly defense held strong with a three up three down performance. The Fillies Scored another run when Andrea Vegter Singled to center field and stole around to make the score 2-1. The Filly defense allowed two more runs in the top of the fourth to make the score 2-3. Not to be discouraged, they turned in a great offensive effort scoring seven runs of their own. It started when Alene Vandermyde was walked and stole second, Vegter singled Vandermyde to third, Callie Bush reached second on an overthrow scoring Vandermyde and Vegter. Trisha Beswick was walked, stole second and later stole home. Renkes singled in Bush, Nelson doubled in Renkes, Heather Andersen singled in Nelson, Mann reached first and Bush singled in Mann. Leaving the score 9-3. The fifth inning featured another great defensive effort with Vandermyde and Jessica Pell making a couple of great catches in the outfield to shutdown any scoring threat. In the bottom of the fifth the Fillies continued to score. Pell led off with a single, Renkes sacrificed Pell to second, Nelson reached on an infield single pushing Pell to third. Pell then stole home while Andersen was walked. Mann reached first on a dropped third strike, Vandermyde singled to load the bases. Andersen scored on a triple steal, while Mann and Vandermyde each advanced their positions. Both scored on a two RBI double by Vegter ending the game with a score 14-3. The Fillies turned in a great defensive effort. Mann finished the game with 5 K’s . Both the infield and the outfield did a good job shutting down the Rams. This game was followed by a three inning practice game. Jordan Mann continued to pitch and Anderson took over the catching. The filly scoring machine continued to roll. Renkes led off with a bunt. Nelson singled in Kyla. Andersen got aboard when hit by pitch(HBP). Mann singled, Vandermyde sacrificed in Nelson. Vegter singled, Bush was HBP to load the bases. Beswick singled in Vegter and Bush. Pell singled in Beswick. The second inning brought Mann to the plate and singled, Beca Head singled, Abby Wiesel was walked to load the bases. Kate Durham singled in Mann, Beswick safrificed in Head. Pell singled in Wiesel. The Filly defense shut down a bases loaded threat in the top of the third to prevent any scoring by Riverdale.
