No. 2 Fillies Take Down No. 3 Prophets

If it hadn’t been for the second quarter, the game would have gone into O.T. The Fillies earned their five-point edge in the second quarter after being tied for the opening quarter at 11. Morrison turned up the defense to hold Prophetstown to just seven points in the second set of eight minutes. The Fillies put in 12 more to take a 23-18 half time lead. The second half was point for point even. Morrison scored 14 in the third and 12 points within the fourth quarter. The Prophets’ quarter scoring was flipped: 12 in the third and 14 in the fourth. The Fillies won the game by five 49-44.


Amanda “Smiley” Smith led all scorers with 17 points. Michaele Vock added eleven. Katie Tenboer knocked in eight points before fouling out. Abby Vock put in eight points also, hitting the lone Filly three pointer. Jodi Medendorp scored three times while Heather Andersen followed with two.
Both teams got to the line 20 times. The Fillies hit 10 of theirs, but P-town scored on 13. Amanda Smith led the team in percentage by nailing five of her eight attempts. Abby was three for six, and Michaele hit one of two. Jodi scored once at the line out of three tries. Heather couldn’t get her charity shot to fall.
Morrison held Prophetstown to 35% shooting from the field, while they shot 41%. P-town made one of 11 three-point attempts. Morrison sunk one out of two of their tries from downtown.
Leading the team in stealing was Amanda with four. The Fillies as a team stole the ball 12 times. (Michaele 3, Abby 2, Jodi 2, Katie 1).
Katie and Amanda teamed up to lead the team in assists. They each had two assists of Morrison’s seven in the game. (Abby, Jodi, and Heather 1 each)
Heather rejected two Prophet shots for half of the teams’ total. (Amanda 1, Katie 1).
The Fillies beat out the Prophets in rebounding by five. Morrison tallied up eleven offensive boards and 20 defensive rebounds. Prophetstown grabbed five offensive, and 21 defensive.
Morrison’s records improved to 16-5 overall and 9-2 in conference.
