That was the Fillies third game in a row that they had won by double digits. By the end of this competition, Morrison would have won its’ eighth straight by double digits. The Lady Rams were the Fillies’ third team of the season, and second in a row, on whom they pulled the 30-point lead rule on. Riverdale found the basket seven times, while Morrison poured on 16 more. The Fillies bumped up their lead to 31 points by the end of the third quarter: 52-21. Because of the 30-point lead rule, the rest of the game would be a running clock. The eight minutes running clock fourth quarter went by quickly. Neither team got much of a chance to score, but Riverdale still mustered up 11 points in the closing quarter. Morrison put in seven points more to bring the game to a score of 59-32 at the close. Morrison’s defense was tremendous throughout the game. The Fillies held Rachel Ward, one of Riverdale’s highest scorers, to zero points. They allowed only two Lady Rams to hit the double-digit mark (Hetz, 11; Stearns, 12). Morrison had four of it’s own in double figures. Amanda “Smiley” Smith rolled in 19 points for the game’s high point scorer. Michaele Vock put in a welcome 13. Jodi Medendorp and Abby Vock tallied up 10 points apiece. Though they had the same number of fouls, the Fillies got to the line more often then the Rams did. Riverdale visited 12 times, and made five, while Morrison was there 20 times, cashing in on 13. Abby was the solo Filly 100%, nailing two out of her two shots. Amanda drained seven of her eight, while Jodi went two for four. Katie and Michaele both traveled to the charity stripe twice, and knocked home one. Heather took the journey yonder, but couldn’t quite come up with anything. The Fillies defense produced a steal about every two minutes. In the 32 minutes of play, Morrison stole the ball from the Rams 16 times. Amanda led the team with five of those. Michaele, Abby, and Jodi swiped three basketballs apiece, while Heather and Katie each mugged one Riverdale player. One fourth of the Fillies field goals came off of assists. Morrison had six totals assists in the game, half of those coming from Katie. Heather, Michaele, and Abby set up one teammate apiece. Katie also led the team in blocks. She was the only Filly to block a shot. Riverdale was out rebounded by Morrison by 15 boards. Riverdale brought down 21, while Morrison hung on to 36. A third of the Fillies’ rebounds were offensive. Michaele led the team in this category, snatching 10 boards. Six of them were offensive. Heather grab seven misses, and Amanda and Jodi clutched six. Abby clasped four rebounds, while Katie seized two more boards for Morrison. The Fillies moved their overall record to 13-4. Their conference record now sits at 6-1. Morrison’s next games will be on Tuesday, the 25th and Thursday the 27th. The 25th is against the Lady Comets from Newman. It’s the Fillies Pack the Place night. The 27th is a home game against Prophetstown. This game is a make-up game that should be a very good game, for both teams.
