United Methodist Church hosting quartet

The United Methodist Church will host the Christian a cappella quartet, Spirit’s Harmony, Sunday evening, January 16, 2005. The performance will be held in the church sanctuary beginning at 7:00 P.M. This group has been taking the Midwest by storm with their mesmerizing music and ministry that began because they “just wanted to sing.”

Spirit’s Harmony began over three years ago when two of the members, Bill Suneson’s and Greg Tremble’s, barbershop quartet separated. Both men joined the church choir whose new director was Jamey Young. The threesome sang at a Good Friday service where the soloist was a high tenor, Pat Huston. After discovering the shared interest in singing and performing, Spirit’s Harmony was formed.

After practicing for six to seven months, the quartet “took to the road.” In the past two years, they have performed over fifty concerts yearly, and in 2005, they are already booked for forty performances. The January 16th concert at the Methodist Church will be their first concert of the new year. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of musical styles: original music, bluegrass, spirituals, gospel, old hymn tunes, calypso, songs of humor, and an “ole country church” segment.

Although the four members of Spirit’s Harmony are from three different denominations, they consider themselves non-denominational. A not-for-profit organization, their main objective is to touch people’s hearts with song. A free will offering will be taken to defer costs. Come, Listen, and Enjoy an evening of musical harmonies.
