January New Visions: New Directions Program

During the month of January, the New Visions: New Directions program of the Morrison United Methodist Church will present an Arts Series, featuring the Broadway musical and the visual arts. These will be held on four Tuesdays at 7:00 pm in the church sanctuary.

Beginning Tuesday, January 3, John Frame will present the history of the Broadway musical and two of its landmarks: Showboat and Oklahoma. Using songs and visual clips, the relevance and impact of these two prize-winning musicals will be discussed. The theatre series will continue on Tuesday, January 10 with a look at the musicals of the 1950’s and “West Side Story.”

Ned Nesti will resume the visual arts segment with “Art Beyond the Renaissance” on Tuesday, January 31. Mr. Nesti is an art educator in the Morrison School district plus an advisor for the Scholastic Art Magazine. The last of the Arts Series, “Contemporary and Abstract Art,” will be held on Tuesday, February 7.

This series is open to all and there is no charge.
