Morrison Police Reports 11-28-05

On 11-22-05, at approximately 10:14 p.m., Morrison Police arrested Eric E. Nelson, 19, on charges of burglary and unlawful possession of alcoholic beverages. Nelson was arrested after a resident of 409 South Genesee Street observed Nelson exiting the resident’s garage. The homeowner and his wife pursued Nelson in their vehicles, stopping Nelson in the 300 Block of South Madison Street, where he was arrested by police. A subsequent investigation revealed that Nelson had stolen beer from the garage. Nelson was incarcerated at the Whiteside County Law Enforcement Center pending an appearance before a judge. Nelson is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 11-25-05, at approximately 9:40 a.m., a representative of Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church reported that several fingers had been broken off of a granite sculpture of Jesus in the Churchyard. The damage occurred some time during the week. There is no current estimate available for the repair to the sculpture. However, Church officials believe that if it can be repaired, the cost will be extensive.
