Local Conservation and Environmental Education Agency

Do You Know There’s a Local Conservation and Environmental Education Agency in the County?

If You Didn’t, Read On……..

The Whiteside County Soil and Water Conservation District is your source for Conservation and Environmental Education resources. We work with local landowners both rural and urban as well as other governmental agencies to promote conservation of soil, water, and related resources. Along with this, a major emphasis of our organization is environmental education.

To accomplish these goals, we receive funds from local and state governmental entities, but we still need supplemental income sources. We offer native grass sales, trees and tree related items such as: tree and shrub seedlings, tree shelters (mini greenhouses), biodegradable tree shelters, tree mats and staples, and many informational and educational booklets. Our trees are available for pick up in the spring and in the fall. We are currently taking orders for Spring 2006 species now. Some of the species available for sale include Red Pine, White Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Red Osier Dogwood Shrubs, Green Ash, White Oak, Red Oak, and Black Walnut. These will be available for pick up some time in April.

If you would like to order seedlings, you may contact us at (815) 772-2124, ext. 3. Income from our tree sales help keep money within our county, help promote our educational programs and help keep staff employed and ready to help you with any conservation and educational needs that you have.
