Source: Greg Clark, Unit Educator, Crop Systems, 815/772-4075 Agriculture producers and landowners who want to learn more about current research on agriculture drainage and decision aides for design are encouraged to attend the Advances in Agricultural Drainage Seminar. Sponsored by the University of Illinois Extension Natural Resource Management Team, this two-hour telenet seminar will be held Tuesday, November 15 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Whiteside County Extension Office in Morrison. Many landowners and producers struggle with determining the need and value of improving surface and subsurface drainage. The seminar will give them the basis and tools to start making informed decisions. Seminar topics will include background on soil characteristics, introduction to drainage system design and tools for system design. The information and tools available in the recently revised Illinois Drainage Guide will be the focus of much of the seminar. Based on the previous printed version, the web-based Illinois Drainage Guide incorporates interactive design and economic analysis tools with surface and subsurface drainage guidelines. Dr. Richard Cooke, revising author of the Illinois Drainage Guide, will highlight tools available from the website useful for designing and evaluating drainage systems. by Editor, theCity1.com |
