Paul Schmidt Donates Original Sketch to Odell Library

(L-R) Connie Boonstra, Jean Zinnen, Don Miller and Paul Schmidt.

The sketch of the High Schools

Paul Schmidt has had a love for drawing for as long as he can remember. As his class reunion from Morrison High School approached his wife Beth suggested he draw a sketch of the changes made to the High School.

Paul went to work on designing a pen and ink sketch of the growth and developments of the school. The four-picture collage includes drawings of the school in 1868, 1922, 1953 and 1969.

Paul reproduced the sketch for his reunion but the original he donated to the Odell Public Library. “Donating it to the library was my wife’s idea but the library contains a lot of interest to Morrison so this is a good place for it,” Paul stated.

Paul and Beth live in Hillsboro, Wisconsin. In what was an old hog barn now gives shelter to Paul and Beth’s studio and framing skills. The upper part of the barn houses Schmidt Studios and the lower portion was renovated to accommodate Beth’s framing materials.

Paul’s artwork can also been seen at Gallery H2O (located on Water Street) and Artrillo’s in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Railroad sketches can be viewed at the Mid Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom Wisconsin.

Present to accept the sketch on behalf of the Odell Library were: Connie Boonstra, Director of Odell Library, Jean Zinnen, Odell Library board member and also Paul’s sister and Don Miller, President of the library.
