Source: Heather Coyle, Academic Hourly, 815/772-4075 Holiday time can be full of food temptations for most but especially for those who are diabetic. Busy schedules make it hard to work in regular exercise and healthy meals. But with a little planning, diabetics can enjoy the holidays. The University of Illinois Extension will offer a special program just for diabetics and their families. “Holiday Dining for the Diabetic” will be held Friday, November 4th at the Whiteside County Senior Center from 9-11 a.m. During the session Sarah Todd, RD, Extension Educator, Nutrition and Wellness with the University of Illinois Extension will teach strategies to effectively deal with food choices during the holiday season. The program will include a cooking demonstration. Those attending will sample foods made during the program. Pre-registration for this program is necessary. Contact Whiteside County Extension Office at 815-772-4075 before November 2nd to register. There is a $3 program fee to cover costs. University of Illinois Extension programs are open to everyone. by Editor, theCity1.com |
