PLAN Testing to be Held November 1

All 9th & 10th graders will be taking the PLAN test on Tuesday, November 1st during 1st & 2nd periods. Prior to the testing day students will complete an interest inventory in their English classes that will assist them with finding career paths that are suited to their interests.

The PLAN test is the precursor to the ACT, the college entrance exam that all juniors must take (as part of the PSAE) in order to receive a diploma in Illinois. The four sub-tests are the same as those for the ACT…English, reading, math, and science reasoning. All 10th grade score results will indicate an estimated ACT range, predicting the composite score (the average of the 4 sub-tests) the student should expect to achieve when he/she takes the ACT as a junior. This allows the student to identify any weaknesses he/she should work on prior to taking the ACT during the following year.

Along with the score results, students will receive their own test booklet that they used during testing. It will be theirs to keep. Their individual score sheets will indicate their answer and the correct response for each question. For the math sub-test the questions will be coded as either an algebra or a geometry question on the score result page. For the English sub-test the questions will be coded as either usage/mechanics or rhetorical skills.

English teachers will distribute PLAN brochures to students to take home to their parents prior to the November 1st testing date.

Please encourage our students to get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast on the morning of the test.
