"It seems like just yesterday I started my shop," states Judy Zuidema, owner of Gallery on Main in downtown Morrison. This unique antique, gift and picture framing shop is celebrating it's 15th anniversary of business on Saturday, October 15.Judy remembers very clearly starting up in the back of the old "El Matador" barbershop, framing prints on a part time basis. She was in the barbershop for 3 years and then moved to her present location at 112 East Main Street where she has been open for the past 12 years. The shop is owned and managed by Judy and she has 3 floors in the store. The first floor is her framing shop and many gift items such as Christmas ornaments, candles and seasonal gifts. The middle floor has antiques and the top floor is the Christmas area. Interestingly, the shop was for over 50 years the "Blass Clothing Store" and Judy still uses the original yellow pine shelving units once used in the clothing store. Much of the woodwork is original and never painted including a unique "dog leg" stair and bannister leading to the 2nd floor where you can view the lower main floor thru another nicely refinished wooden rail and bannister. The shop employs great use of original woodwork and the theme of Judy's frame shop transcends itself into the entire shop. On Saturday, October 15 there will be free refreshments and a free gift to each customer. Judy's children Lisa and Amy as well as the grandkids have helped get ready for this 15th Anniversary Open House. The store opens at 9:00 am and Judy says she will be open "until 3:00 pm or when the last customer leaves!"
