National Online Advertising growing

The Interactive Advertising Bureau in New York reported online advertising has grown a significant 26% in the first half of 2005 compared to the same time period in 2004.

On September 26, 2005 the IAB announced their study which shows a total of $5.8 billion compared to $4.6 billion a year ago. Pricewaterhouse Coopers made the study on behalf of the IAB. Internet based advertising remains a small portion of the total U.S. advertising budget which was $71 billion during the first half of 2005, according to research firm TNS Media Intelligence.

Display ads make up 20 percent and classifieds 18 percent with the blance shared in search ads."The consistent growth in overall revenues shows marketers may be shifting more total advertising budgets to Online," David Silverman, a partner with Pricewaterhouse said in a statement. "This is a natural development as research shows more consumers spending a larger percentage of their media time online, while the flow of adverising simply follows."
