Third Graders Draw Main Street

Southside School’s third grade classes were found sitting around Main Street last week, drawing sketches of downtown Morrison businesses.

The focus of their Social Studies class is community. They are learning the importance of Main Street to a community.

The students do their own drawing of the outside of the business they are assigned and then are given a shoebox in which they have to construct the building. They are also responsible to contact the business and find out what they can, about that business.

“Main Street” is then displayed at the Odell Public Library.

Kaleb Church was drawing the Farm Credit Union. “It is fun and I am learning to draw,” he stated.

Christian Ufkin who was drawing the Morrison Municipal Building said, “Main Street is basically in every single town and Main Street is very busy.”
