Cub Scouts – Pack 328 First Pack Meeting

Morrison Cub Scout Pack 328 will hold their first pack meeting of the year Thursday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at St. Peter’s Church. A “cowboy round-up” will be this month’s theme complete with cowboy songs, cowboy games, and cowboy snacks. There is still time to register a boy that has not been in scouts before. The registration fee is $10. All returning scouts are reminded to come and bring their family.

Cub Scouts is divided into grade levels starting with first grade and ending with fifth grade. Each grade level or den, works on skills throughout the years to achieve different ranks. Cub Scouting is an educational program: to help you, as parents, develop your son’s character, teach him citizenship, and help him to be physically, mentally, and morally fit. Scouting prepares young boys for life.

Scouting is family oriented. Parents are encouraged to work closely with their son to complete requirements throughout the year. There are several activities, including the monthly pack meeting, where families can come together and celebrate their son’s accomplishments.

Pack 328 sponsors several community service projects throughout the year. A food drive takes place in the fall to help fill the food pantry’s shelves. A bake sale at the Christmas Walk will pay for Christmas gifts for a needy family. A new project this year will be a “Scout For Hire”. In response to Hurricane Katrina, the scouts will be hiring themselves out to rake leaves. There will be more information on this project in the near future.

Cub master, Tonia Ernst, encourages all boys at elementary school age to join scouts. It is a fun and rewarding activity. For more information, please contact Tonia Ernst at 815-772-2816.
