Unlawful Delivery of Alcohol Charges on Local Businesses |

Illinois State Police Zone 2, Sterling, conducted Alcohol Countermeasures Enforcement (ACE) surveys at various businesses throughout the Whiteside County area on Wednesday, September 7, 2005. The purpose of these surveys was to determine which businesses might be selling alcoholic beverages to minors (persons under 21 years of age). A total of 11 businesses in Albany, Erie, Fulton, Lyndon and Morrison were surveyed. Of the 11 businesses, four were involved in the sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor. The following is information pertaining to the businesses and employees involved in the sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor. Casey’s General Store, 602 E. Lincolnway, Morrison. Employee Melissa J. Geisler, 23, of Morrison was arrested for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor and released on a notice to appear in Whiteside County Court. Lucky’s Food Mart, 210 W. Lincolnway, Morrison. Employee Mary L. Bishop, 44, of Morrison was arrested for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor and released on a notice to appear in Whiteside County Court. Kelly’s Market, 1614 4th Street, Fulton. Employee Evan P. Schaver, 18, of Fulton was arrested for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor and released on a notice to appear in Whiteside County Court. Gibson’s General Store, 504 W. Commercial Street, Lyndon. Employee Susan B. Lanphere, 49, of Prophetstown was arrested for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor and released on a notice to appear in Whiteside County Court. The charge of Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor is a Class A misdemeanor. The person arrested for this offense is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The remaining seven businesses surveyed did not result in an arrest for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor. The following are the businesses that did not sell alcohol to a minor. Albany: Kelly’s Food Mart; Erie: Casey’s General Store and Hill and Dell (Erie 66); Fulton: Shell Express Lane; Morrison: FS Fast Stop, Sullivan’s Foods and Shell Express Lane. The ACE surveys are funded through a grant from the United States Department of Transportation, National Traffic Safety Administration.
