Online Dairy Classes Open

Source: Michael Hutjens (217) 333-2928; Author: Bob Sampson Principles of dairy science and the latest information in dairy cattle reproduction research are among the topics covered in two University of Illinois Extension classes offered this fall online. "Principles of Dairy Science" explores feeding, reproduction, milk synthesis, housing, manure systems, and genetics. It is led by Extension dairy specialist Mike Hutjens and Extension dairy reproduction specialist Geoff Dahl. "Advanced Dairy Reproduction" contains the latest information on all phases of reproductive physiology and will be led by Darrel Kesler, professor of animal sciences. "Both classes start in late September with all lectures recorded on a CD," said Hutjens. "Enrollees can participate for credit or non-credit. You listen to lectures based on your own time schedule and attend class one hour a week for 10 weeks on the Internet in the evening. Your computer is your classroom." Hutjens said those interested in learning more or enrolling should go to: Dairy Certificate Program.
