Methodist Church to Present “New Visions: New Directions" |
|
The United Methodist Church of Morrison is “kicking off” its second series of study, exploration, appreciation, and education beginning in September and is open to all. Learning is a lifetime adventure. Recognizing and appreciating God’s acts of Faith, Hope, and Love is an adventure for eternity. This, our second year of New Visions: New Directions, is dedicated to learning more about our world, our culture, our appreciation of the arts, our heritage, and our God and our Bible. Come along on this chance of great exploration! The New Visions: New Directions year will begin with a continuation of the world religion study. This study, a month of learning to understand others, will begin in September with guest speakers of each of four different faiths. Also included in this year’s programming will be a celebration of our cultural heritage, and a topical Bible study based on “Faith, Hope, and Love”, which is the theme of the New Visions: New Directions series for 2005-2006. The art and music presentations proved highly entertaining and stimulating. In addition to the holiday and spring concerts by the church’s music department, there will be Lenten noon concert series featuring church and community members and a Broadway musical study, led by John Frame, in January. Also during the winter months, Ned Nesti will continue a look at art after the Renaissance and, later, contemporary and abstract art. Throughout the year presentations regarding medical and social issues will be held. These will include women’s heart health, and family and social issues, including child abuse and homosexuality. The community is encouraged to come to learn, think, appreciate and grow. Most of these sessions are scheduled for Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. and a complete list of events and times will be available by brochure. Be a part of this exciting time in our church and community. It is a time to be nourished in body, mind, and spirit. by Editor, theCity1.com |
