Cook Off For Kids

Source: Heather Coyle, Academic Hourly, Whiteside County Extension, 815-772-4075

Hey Kids! Do you like to cook? How would you like a chance to compete to win a trip to Kidsfest-Chicago as well as some other cool prizes?

Striving to make health and fitness achievable priorities, University of Illinois Extension, Whiteside County, is sponsoring a KIDS ONLY cooking contest. The contest is open to all fifth grade students in Whiteside County. Participants will be required to submit an original and nutritious recipe for a snack or mini-meal. Selected recipes will qualify for the cook-off event, scheduled for Thursday, September 22 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Odell Community Room in Morrison. (Parents welcome)

Participants in the cook-off will prepare their recipe for the judges. The top recipe winner and the top three finalists will join a chef and a nutritionist and qualify as a team entry into the Junior Chef Challenge! And, if chosen by the Junior Chef Challenge judges, the team will win a trip to Kidsfest-Chicago in St. Charles on October 15 and will have the privilege of competing live on-stage against other kids from across Illinois. Is that exciting or what?

For further information or a registration form, please contact the University of Illinois Extension, Whiteside County office at 815-772-4075. Registration deadline is September 13 so do not delay!
