Sesquicentennial DVD is proud moment for "Morrison Online"

Normally, I would not use this column to promote a retail item however I am making an exception.

Tuesday, August 16, 2005 we will begin offering a DVD of the Morrison Sesquicentennial celebrations. The colaboration of Morrison Online's Kim Topp, Dawn Zuidema and sesquicentennial director Jane Heath have resulted in a very unique lifetime memory DVD. Using a collection of digital cameras and a digital video camcorder several events have been combined into one source for viewing pleasure.

Viewers will be able as well to enjoy the 1955 Centennial film donated by Nancy and Gordon Richey. The original 8mm film is to be donated to the Morrison Historical Society.A feature of the new DVD is an introduction to Morrison by Mayor Roger Drey. The sesquicentennial parade is shown along with one on one interviews with participants and a behind the scenes talk with parade director Betty Stralow. The combination of still pictures, film and video with music in the background adds excitement to the DVD. The commemorative booklet history series is introduced using a reading of the beginning of each decade using video available online of parallel events occurring in each of the decades since 1955. Looking at the DVD allows the viewer to make instant connections between happenings in Morrison and major events on a National and global scale.

This is a proud moment for Morrison Online. Kim Topp, Dawn Zuidema and Jane Heath can be very proud of their creativity and visionary work over the last 2 years. The DVD is available at the Sesquicentennial Booth at the Whiteside County Fair and can be purchased at our downtown office daily.
