Doug Vanderlaan presents Stephanie Vavra with a sesquicentennial donation.

Regardless of your occupation, income, or thriftiness, bills continue to arrive each month. The same is true for Morrison Sesquicentennial.
The committee has just four bills left to pay, after its successful community weekend in July. However, those four bills total a bit more than $5000.
Metrobank Vice-President and Branch Manager Doug Vanderlaan helped decrease that amount on Thursday, August 11, with a donation. Committee co-chair Stephanie Vavra received the check at the Morrison bank.
Our town’s anniversary year will last five more months. The sesquicentennial committee continues to sell a variety of commemorative merchandise in order to pay these expenses.
However, the Sesquicentennial Store will be open by appointment only; you may call 772-8718 to make purchases. August 16-20, during the Whiteside County fair, look for our sales booth in the Blue Building. Summer items are still practical: water bottles, t-shirts, and baseball caps. Send a set of colorful, Morrison postcards (and stamps) with your college-bound student, or give a set to someone who is house-bound.
This week, be the first to purchase a copy of the exciting DVD showing the July 8-10 fairground events, parade, classic car show, interviews, and the 1955 centennial movie. A shorter companion DVD shows scenes of Morrison.
On Saturday, September 17, during “Paint the Town” the Sesqui Store will reopen at 218 W. Main. The committee also will sell merchandise outside on Main Street.
If necessary, we will continue to raise funds during the Christmas Walk. Shop now for the holidays, because sweatshirts and ornaments are limited. Numbered-gold or silver pins, sweatshirts, books, art prints and posters, color postcard sets, and tree ornaments are gifts suitable for anyone on your list.
Morrison Sesquicentennial continues its fund-development campaign. We welcome the generosity of our citizens through merchandise sales.
Donation checks in any amount should be made payable to “Morrison Sesquicentennial.” You may deliver or mail them to the address above. Contact Joy Tegeler Accounting Services at 772-8474 with questions.
