Morrison Police Reports 08-01-05

On 07-26-05, at approximately 12:56 p.m., Morrison Police investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 400 block of East Lincolnway. An eastbound pick-up driven by Stephanie A. Walters, 17, Morrison, was making a right turn into a private drive. A second eastbound pick-up, driven by Kevin C. Schmidt, 20, Dixon, collided with the rear of the Walters truck.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision. Total damages to both vehicles exceeded $500. Schmidt was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Schmidt is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 07-28-05, at approximately 12:09 a.m., Morrison Police charged Tori M. Montgomery, 18, Rock Falls, with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage, and illegal transportation of an alcoholic beverage. Montgomery was charged after being stopped in the 700 block of West Wall Street for a traffic violation.
Also charged was a passenger in the Montgomery vehicle, Andrea B. Given, 18, Morrison, for unlawful consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
Montgomery and Given were subsequently transported to the Whiteside County Law Enforcement Center. Montgomery was later released on a notice to appear in court. Given was held in lieu of $100 cash bond. Montgomery and Given are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 07-30-05, at approximately 11:05 a.m., Morrison Police investigated a three-car accident at the intersection of East Lincolnway and Sawyer Road. A car driven by Marilyn M. Herrick, 72, Morrison, and a second car driven by Susan L. Wiersema, 36, Morrison were stopped in traffic. A third vehicle driven by Tina L. Dykstra, 38, Morrison, struck the Wiersema vehicle. The impact drove the Wiersema vehicle into the rear of the Herrick vehicle.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the collisions. Total damage to all vehicles exceeded $500. Dykstra was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Dykstra is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 07-31-05, at approximately 1:02 a.m., Morrison Police charged Everardo A. Vital, 33, Clinton, Iowa, with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and operating a motor vehicle without valid registration.
Vital was stopped in the 300 block of West Lincolnway after police received a motorist report of an erratic driver on Route #30. Vital was later transported to the Whiteside County Law Enforcement Center where he was released on a notice to appear in court. Vital is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 08-01-05, at approximately 5:35 a.m., Jerry Z. Main, Morrison, reported that someone had scratched the paint on his car with a sharp object. Suspects then put a broken egg in the gas tank filler of the car. No damage estimate is currently available. The damage occurred some time the previous evening while the Main vehicle was parked on Meadowbrook Drive.
