Playhouse announces 2006 season

The exciting new season for summer 2006 at TLP has been announced! Gold Series Subscriptions are available now to ensure that you don’t miss a minute of the action. From spectacular family musicals to new and classic comedies, next season’s show are sure to be instant hits!

Join Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow as they kick off the season with THE WIZARD OF OZ, traveling down the Yellow Brick Road in this energetic musical! All of your favorite Harold Arlen tunes burst onto the stage in living color with this adaptation of one of the world’s most-loved films!

In the classic comedy THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, Tracy Lord is the spoiled daughter of a privileged family. When a gossip column reporter arrives to find out about Tracy’s wedding arrangements, it begins a love-hate triangle that is quite possibly one of the funniest ever written. Katharine Hepburn starred in the Broadway hit and silver screen classic!

“A bad title...that could kill a show pretty good,” states Little Sally in the opening number of URINETOWN, the second musical of the season. True… but laughter from the audiences made this musical one of Broadway’s recent, big hits! Ribbing shows like Les Miserables, this spoof tells of a town plagued by a water shortage. When private toilets are outlawed and a tax is instated that forces the citizens to “pay to pee,” it begins a revolution unlike anything you’ve ever seen before! Though the title may sound a bit messy, this hysterically funny musical is good clean fun!

TOM, DICK & HARRY is a new hit farce, direct from London. The title refers to three crazy brothers: as Tom and his wife await a visit from the adoption agency to see if they qualify for a child, Dick & Harry’s money-making schemes bring everything from cadavers, illegal aliens and the Russian mafia into their home. This zany new show by Ray (Funny Money) and Michael Cooney is filled with gut-busting laughs!

With a rousing score by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde), THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL will have you cheering in your seats! A wealthy aristocrat decides to battle social injustice by disguising himself as…The Scarlet Pimpernel. Amazing sword fights; dance sequences and damsels in distress match the energy and excitement of such shows as The Three Musketeers.

AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’ is a fourth “bonus” musical for our patrons to close out the season! Five characters from Harlem bring the music of Fats Waller to life in this toe tapping, knee slapping, Tony Award-winning Best Musical.
