Sesquicentennial Car Show offered something for everyone

Judges' Choice for Best of Show

Gary Cook's 1970 Red Chevelle won Peoples'Choice

Hundreds of car fans endured the evening heat to go downtown for the Sesquicentennial Car Show July 9th. With old and new cars lining the 2-1/2 blocks of downtown there was something for everyone. 85 cars, trucks, and motorcycles entered from almost every decade and from all over the area.

The low-budget show, free to any area car owners gave out donated awards and also donated door prizes. Best of Show went to Mike Mayfield with his 1927 Ford Roadster and trailer. People’s Choice went Gary Cook with his 1970 Red Chevelle.

Arnie Beswick was the featured guest on the corner of Main and Genesee with his Tameless Tiger II. Main Street was renamed Arnie Beswick Boulevard for the evening.

Two special features were the restored milk trucks from the Grimm Dairy of Mt Carroll and Goodenough Dairy of Morrison.
