Sesquicentennial Window Painters

On Saturday, July 9, the office window of Edward Jones Investments, managed by Terry Wilkens, was adorned with red, white, and blue bunting and paint.

Wilkens’s secretary, Nancy Stevens, asked her son, Derek, to paint the sesquicentennial logo on the Main Street window, in honor of Morrison's special weekend celebration.

Derek invited his friend, Elliott Riggen, to share in the fun. Both boys are 14 and Morrison High School freshmen.

Jen Parker’s curvilinear logo is somewhat complex. The clever boys taped a paper pattern on the inside of the window and then painted the glass on the outside. Even with this design help, it took Stevens, at left, and Riggen three hours to complete.

The high schoolers should be ready for CAPA’s “Paint the Town” festivities on Saturday, September 17. Perhaps these friends will team up to paint a window in 2055, when the bicentennial celebration occurs!
